Here come the Tomcats; Haywood opens 2017 season tomorrow night at home against Henry County

What: Henry County vs. Haywood in the season opener

Where: John B. Hooper Memorial Stadium in Brownsville

When: Friday at 7 p.m.

Players to watch: Haywood - QB Tillman McRae, RB DeCourtney Reed, RB Xavier Walker, DL Derrion Bell, LB Deyondrius Hines; Henry County - QB Savon Stewart, RB Caleb McCutcheon, WR Ethan Thompson, LB Dalton Dyer

Series history: Paris (then Grove High School) and Haywood played seven times between 1919 and 1963, with Haywood winning five of seven. Haywood and Henry County played 10 times from 1971-1990, with Haywood winning seven of those games. The 1971 game was a bowl game, the Jaycee Bowl played in Milan. Haywood won it 33-6. Haywood has not played Henry County since a 28-0 win to open the 1990 season in Brownsville.
